Gigablast
About Gigablast Gigablast launched in 2000 was one of the earliest search engines to make its foundational mark as an open source engine. As a provider of crawler tooling and search serp results the Gigablast API stack enabled search engines such as Zuula, Clusty, and Ixquick (now SmartPage) to scale. Founded in 2000, by Matt Wells, an early infoseek employee, the Gigablast service has a 24 (build a counter here that changes the year on Jan 1st) year operational history with over 12 billion pages indexed. The open-source search engine source code was released as open-source software under the Apache License with the hope to deliver the crawling tool set to a wider set of use cases and developers. Matt Wells was known to be the only developer of Gigablast for 23 years and the search engine to be known as the largest Indie developed search engine. |
